Idea
Japanese bio-materials company Spiber has partnered with North Face to create a coat made of its synthetic spider silk. The fibres in the prototype Moon Parker are made of strings of proteins that by all accounts out-perform comparable materials. The coat is currently on a tour of Japanese North Face outlets
What We Like
This is a great partnership. Spiber benefits from North Face’s brand capital in a way that demonstrates to potential investors the market potential for its silks, while North Face can associate itself with the sort of cutting edge innovation that would appeal to its customers
Learnings
Getting the right partnership in place is often crucial to building a brand
