Art Attack

Idea

IKEA commissioned street artists from around the world to create cool pictures which it then projected onto public buildings in Belgium. Ostensibly to make art affordable to all, the kings of flat pack have made prints of the street art available in its stores at a very reasonable price

What We Like

This is classic advertising dressed up as art curation. Essentially, IKEA has created a product that a certain demographic will like and then advertised it hoping to get hip youngsters into their stores – it will no doubt be a great draw and will lead to sales of more than just art prints

Learnings

Brands are increasingly expected to be content publishers – the canny ones will find a way to monetise their content and link it to their core offerings
